hello, world

first post on the new site. notes on why it exists and what i plan to write about.

i'd been meaning to start a blog for years. every time i sat down to do it the first decision was the same: which platform. medium, substack, ghost, beehiiv, hugo on github pages, next.js + mdx, hand-rolled html. each one came with a half-day of setup before i wrote a word. i'd quit before the placeholder template was even themed.

this site is the opposite. one html file. one css file. one js file. dropped onto cloudflare pages. fifteen minutes from the idea to a live URL. the writing comes after.

what i'll write about

three loose buckets:

  • AI — what i'm building at quantumblack, what i'm building on my own, the gap between hype and ship.
  • product + finance — how AI is actually changing how products get built and money gets allocated, not the LinkedIn version.
  • occasional philosophy — the long-tail questions about agency, work, taste, attention. less frequent, more weight.

cadence

aiming for one substantive post a month. not "10 things i learned" filler — actual writeups of things i've shipped, decisions i've changed my mind on, or questions i'm still chewing on. if a month goes by without one, the math tells the story.

what's next

working on a writeup of Brix from the inside — the design decisions that actually mattered, the bets that didn't pay off, what i'd do differently if starting over. should land in the next week or two.

thanks for reading.
